Authorship Criteria
Authorship Criteria
Authorship Eligibility, Contributions, and Accountability
Jurnal Hasil Pengabdian Masyarakat (JURIBMAS) is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, and integrity in scholarly authorship. Authorship must reflect meaningful intellectual or professional contributions to the work reported in the manuscript.
All authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria, approve the final manuscript, and accept accountability for their contributions. Authorship must not be granted solely on the basis of academic position, seniority, funding, supervision, or institutional affiliation.
1. Criteria for Authorship
An individual qualifies for authorship when all the following requirements are fulfilled:
Substantial Contribution
Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the community service program, problem identification, methodology, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or evaluation.
Drafting and Critical Revision
Draft the manuscript or critically revise it for important intellectual content.
Final Approval
Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.
Accountability
Accept responsibility for one's contributions and cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of the work.
2. Authorship in Community Service Publications
For manuscripts reporting community service, empowerment, training, educational programs, technology implementation, or program evaluation, qualifying contributions may include:
- Developing the program concept, objectives, or implementation framework.
- Designing the intervention, training materials, technical solution, or evaluation approach.
- Making substantial contributions to implementation, data analysis, interpretation, or outcome evaluation.
- Interpreting findings and critically revising the manuscript.
- Accepting responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the reported work.
Participation in an activity alone does not automatically establish eligibility for authorship. Each person's contribution must be assessed individually.
3. Contributions That Do Not Automatically Qualify for Authorship
The following contributions do not independently establish authorship eligibility:
- Providing funding or sponsorship alone.
- Holding an academic, administrative, or leadership position.
- Providing general supervision without a qualifying scholarly contribution.
- Providing routine technical, logistical, or administrative assistance alone.
- Participating in an event without a substantial contribution to the reported scholarly work.
- Providing proofreading, language editing, or formatting alone.
Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged, with their permission, in the Acknowledgments section.
4. Author Order and Corresponding Author
The author order must be agreed upon by all authors before submission and should reflect their relative contributions in accordance with the conventions of the relevant discipline and the nature of the work. Author order must not be determined solely by academic rank or institutional position.
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal throughout submission, peer review, revision, and publication. Responsibilities include coordinating author approval, providing accurate author information, responding to editorial queries, and submitting required declarations.
The corresponding author must confirm that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to the author list and order.
5. Author Contribution Statement
JURIBMAS encourages authors to provide a transparent statement describing each author's contribution. Where appropriate, the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) framework may be used to describe roles such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, software, visualization, supervision, project administration, and writing.
Contribution statements must accurately represent the work performed. The use of a contributor taxonomy does not replace the journal's authorship eligibility criteria.
Author 1: Conceptualization, methodology, and writing – original draft. Author 2: Investigation, data curation, and formal analysis. Author 3: Supervision, validation, and writing – review and editing. All authors reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
Authors must replace this example with an accurate statement of their actual contributions.
6. Changes to Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be justified in writing. Written agreement must be obtained from all affected authors, including any author being added or removed.
The editorial team may suspend processing while the request is assessed. Changes will not be made solely at the request of one author without appropriate documentation and consent.
7. Unethical Authorship Practices
JURIBMAS does not accept guest, gift, honorary, or ghost authorship. Individuals who have not made qualifying contributions must not be listed as authors, and individuals who meet the authorship criteria must not be omitted without legitimate justification.
Suspected authorship misrepresentation, fabricated contributions, or unauthorized authorship changes may be investigated under the journal's publication ethics procedures.
8. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Manuscript Preparation
Artificial intelligence tools and large language models cannot be listed as authors because they cannot accept scholarly accountability, approve the final manuscript, or independently address questions concerning research integrity.
Authors remain responsible for verifying AI-assisted content, checking references and factual claims, protecting confidential information, and following the journal's AI policy. Any required disclosure must follow the journal's applicable policy.
9. Authorship Disputes and Editorial Action
Authors should attempt to resolve authorship disagreements through communication and, where appropriate, their institutional procedures. The editorial team may request written explanations, contribution statements, or other relevant documentation.
The journal may pause editorial processing while a serious dispute is assessed and may refer the matter to the relevant institution when appropriate. Editorial action will be guided by available evidence and applicable publication ethics procedures.
10. Author Declaration
By submitting a manuscript to JURIBMAS, the corresponding author confirms that the author list and order have been agreed upon by all listed authors, that all authors have approved the submitted version, and that the declared contributions accurately reflect the work performed. All authors are expected to comply with this policy and the journal's publication ethics requirements.
