Post-Publication Discussion
Post-Publication Discussion
Promoting constructive scholarly dialogue, critical evaluation, and the continuous improvement of published research and community service practices.
1. Introduction
Jurnal Hasil Pengabdian Masyarakat (JURIBMAS), published by LKP KARYA PRIMA KURSUS, recognizes the importance of continuing scholarly discussion after an article has been published.
Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity for readers, authors, researchers, practitioners, and other members of the academic community to raise questions, offer constructive comments, clarify findings, and discuss the implications of published articles. This process supports scholarly communication, transparency, and the responsible development of knowledge and community service practices.
2. Objectives of Post-Publication Discussion
Scholarly Dialogue
Encourage evidence-based discussion and constructive academic exchange concerning published articles.
Clarification of Findings
Provide a channel for questions about methodology, interpretation, limitations, and conclusions.
Research Integrity
Support the identification and responsible examination of potential errors or concerns affecting the scholarly record.
Community Impact
Promote discussion of the practical implications, limitations, and potential application of community service outcomes.
3. Scope of Discussion
Post-publication comments may address matters relevant to the content, methods, findings, interpretation, and implications of articles published in JURIBMAS, including:
- Questions concerning research or community service methods and implementation procedures.
- Comments on data interpretation, reported findings, limitations, and conclusions.
- Discussion of the relevance, reproducibility, and practical implications of reported activities.
- Evidence-based corrections or clarifications concerning factual or methodological issues.
- Constructive scholarly disagreement supported by appropriate evidence and references.
- Serious concerns about possible errors, ethical issues, or the reliability of published material.
4. Who May Submit a Discussion?
Authors of the original article, researchers, practitioners, readers, and other interested individuals with relevant scholarly expertise may submit comments concerning articles published in JURIBMAS.
Contributors should identify the article being discussed and provide their name, institutional affiliation where applicable, a clear explanation of their concerns or arguments, and supporting evidence or references when relevant. Any competing interests related to the discussion should be disclosed.
5. Submission Requirements
A post-publication discussion submitted for editorial consideration should meet the following requirements:
- Identification: Provide the article title, author names, publication year, DOI or article URL, where available.
- Clarity: State the specific question, argument, correction, or concern being raised.
- Evidence: Support substantive claims with relevant data, methodological reasoning, or credible references.
- Professional language: Use respectful, objective, and constructive academic language.
- Originality: Ensure that the submitted discussion is original and does not infringe third-party rights.
- Disclosure: Declare relevant conflicts of interest and identify any applicable funding or other relationships.
- Privacy and ethics: Do not disclose confidential information, personal data, or unpublished material without appropriate authorization.
6. Editorial Assessment and Handling
Step 1 — Initial Screening
The editorial team assesses the relevance, clarity, professionalism, and suitability of the submission for discussion of a published article.
Step 2 — Editorial Evaluation
The editor may assess the comments directly or seek advice from appropriate subject experts when the scientific or technical issues require further evaluation.
Step 3 — Author Response
Where appropriate, the original article's authors may be invited to respond to substantive questions or criticisms. The opportunity to respond does not imply that the original article or the submitted comments will automatically be accepted.
Step 4 — Editorial Decision
The editor determines the appropriate outcome in accordance with the journal's policies. Possible outcomes include requesting clarification or revision, declining publication, publishing an accepted discussion and response, or referring a separate integrity concern for further assessment.
Publication of comments or responses is subject to editorial assessment and the journal's available publication procedures. Submission does not guarantee publication.
7. Right of Reply
When a submitted discussion raises substantive questions about a published article, JURIBMAS may invite the original authors to provide a reasoned response. The response should address the issues raised and be supported by evidence or references where appropriate.
Both the discussion and the response, if accepted for publication, should meet the journal's editorial and ethical standards. Neither party should use the process to make personal attacks, engage in harassment, or introduce unsupported allegations.
8. Relationship to Corrections and Retractions
Post-publication discussion is distinct from the formal correction or retraction of a published article. If a comment identifies a possible material error, unreliable finding, ethical breach, or other concern that may affect the scholarly record, the editorial team will assess the matter under the journal's applicable policies.
Where warranted, the journal may consider a correction, an expression of concern, a retraction, or another appropriate editorial action. Any action must be based on an assessment of the available evidence and handled in accordance with the journal's policies and applicable publication ethics guidance.
9. Ethical Standards and Conduct
All participants in post-publication discussion are expected to uphold academic integrity, fairness, confidentiality where appropriate, and respect for others. Comments must focus on the scholarly content and should not include defamatory language, discriminatory statements, threats, harassment, or knowingly misleading claims.
The editorial team may decline or take appropriate action on submissions that do not meet the journal's standards, contain unsupported allegations, breach confidentiality, or otherwise violate applicable policies. Serious allegations will be handled through the relevant research misconduct or publication ethics procedures rather than treated solely as ordinary scholarly debate.
Editorial decisions concerning discussions and responses should be made impartially, with due consideration of the evidence and the opportunity for relevant parties to respond.
10. How to Submit a Post-Publication Discussion
Contributors should use the journal's official submission or editorial contact channel and identify the submission as a Post-Publication Discussion. Please include the full citation or URL of the article concerned and provide the discussion in an editable document, together with supporting references where applicable.
Before submitting, please consult the journal's author guidelines and relevant editorial policies to confirm the applicable submission procedure.
